Consequences of Heberden
As said, Heberden is not rheumatic, however, it can also be apparent on parts of the body with structural imbalance. When you have “Foot Heberden (Kasahara Node)”, the absorption of the harmful waves created while walking is not effective, causing the imbalanced parts to further endure the harmful waves in addition to weight load. This results in deformation and fracture of the knee, lower back or neck, and foot bones, including deformation or fatigue fracture of the second and fourth toes (which cannot be seen in X-rays), known as Morton’s disease. In the cases with deformation of the cervical vertebrae, the autonomic nervous system can be affected.
Affected parts and symptoms
- Knee
- Osteoarthrities, hydrarthrosis
- Lower back
- lumber hernia, spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis and spinal canal stenosis
- Neck
- Deformation of cervical vertebrae caused by Heberden, cervical hernia, autonomic imbalance, headache, stiff shoulder, dizziness (including Meniere), depression, irregular pulse, panic attacks, spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leak syndrome (SCSFLS), thyroid gland disorder, numbness in hands.
